This memory may be used to upgrade the RAM which is equipped with dual controllers. Each controller has access to three memory slots, which are broken down into two slots for the main system memory and one slot for the write cache. Each slot supports a maximum of 16GB, so each controller supports 32GB of main memory, or 64GB total, as well as 16GB of write cache per controller, or 32GB total.
